One of the most prosperous and stable post-communist countries, Czech Republic traditionally known as Bohemia, is located in Central Europe. The country is landlocked sharing its borders with Poland in the north, northwest and west is flanked by Germany, Austria in the south and in the eas is Slovakia. The biggest city in the country and also its capital is Prague, also a major tourist destination. In 1993, when Czechoslovakia was dissolved, the Slovak and Czech Republic became two separate countries. May 2004, the country became a member of the European Union. Aside from Prague, there are nine more important cities in the country: Brno, Ostrava, Plzen, Olomouc, Zlin, Hradec Kraloce, Ceske Budejovice, Pardubice, Karlovy Vary and Usti Nad Labem.
